Get Inspired: Exotic handmade papers

October 29, 2009

The Pocket invitation is one of our most popular styles for wedding and party invitations, so we love when clients are open to mixing in unique color and paper combinations. Ari and Allan’s antique gold pocket invitation for their December wedding is accented with a crinkled, hand-marbled paper from Thailand.

Real Wedding: Coral & Neil, September 2009

October 21, 2009

We had so much fun designing “upscale tropical” invitations and accessories for this beautiful wedding. This event was also particularly special to me for several reasons. First, Neil and Coral got married on my birthday. Second, I was able to indulge in one of my absolute favorite pasttimes…collecting seashells. We used real scallop seashells on their table number cards and “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair hangtags. I couldn’t bring myself to go to a store and buy the seashells, as my step-mother (a longtime beach resident) reminded me, “That’s cheating.” So, my family and I spent several sun-soaked days at the beach collecting the perfect seashells for their cards.

And third, I absolutely LOVED their cake!

The vendors that made this wedding fabulous were:
Venue: The Don CeSar Resort & Spa
Event Planner: Shannon Wilson, Table 6 Productions
Photography: Aaron Lockwood Photography
Stationery: yours truly, Not From a Box
Florals: Redman Steele
Photobooth: ShutterBooth Tampa
Ceremony Music: Breezin Entertainment
Wedding Cake: The Don CeSar

Thank you Aaron for capturing this wedding so beautifully, and to Shannon for the opportunity to work with such a great couple. Enjoy!! I sure did…

Real Wedding: Mary & Gilberto 04.17.09

October 14, 2009

File this under ‘better late than never’

This beautiful wedding took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Brooklyn, New York. The reception was held at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York. Mary’s bi-lingual pocket invitations were in chocolate brown, fairway green and ivory. We also designed matching escort cards and favor tags. These photos are courtesy of Duet Photography of Long Island and Manhattan.

I especially love Mary’s unique idea for displaying the escort cards.

What a beautiful day. Congratulations Mary and Gilberto!

A very happy bride: Melissa in Booklyn NY

We received the nicest, heartfelt letter from a wedding client on Monday. What a great way to start the week!

Dear Britta,

I cannot express how grateful I am that I found your company. I had told family and friends that I had found Not From a Box, an online site that sold invitations. Several people kept trying to convince me that this was not the way to go. However, once I ordered the invitation sample (which came in two days!) I knew the invitations were exactly what I wanted and had decided that I was going to use Not From a Box despite their comments.

And I definitely made the correct decision! I have nothing but the best to say about your company. Every step of the process from picking out my invitations, to ordering them, to adapting the proofs, and even the dramatic moment where I needed emergency envelopes ASAP, went smoothly. You and your staff were helpful and supportive of all of the different aspects of my planning and neurotic attention to detail.
I have gotten so many compliments on my invitations for their simple, yet classy and sophisticated look. The main reason I received those compliments is because of the quality of the invitations and devotion that your staff puts into each and every order. I cannot say enough about how lucky I was to stumble across your web-site and how pleased I am with every aspect of my order from the invitations, menus, and favor stickers. Thank you so much and I will highly recommend you to many friends and relatives!

Real Wedding: Kathryn & John 05.24.09

October 9, 2009

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Kathryn and her mom, Kim, on this elegant Tampa wedding. The talented vendors that contributed to this wedding include:
Venue: Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, Tampa
Photography: Lauren Pauline Photography
Video: Tampa Wonderworks Film & Video

Kathryn and John’s sky blue and ivory wedding stationery included layered invitations, ceremony programs, escort cards, table numbers and round menu cards. Notice that the ‘married’ monogram doesn’t make its appearance on their wedding day stationery until after the actual wedding ceremony. We love that special detail!
